Configure Laser Profiler I/O Terminals

Controller I/O Terminals

General-purpose digital input (DI) and digital output (DO) terminals are the interfaces through which the laser profiler’s controller interacts with external devices.

  • General-purpose DI terminals: 6 in total (IN1 to IN6), used to receive signals from external devices. After configuration, the signals received by the DI terminals can be used to trigger the Mech-MSR projects.

Input signal terminals: 1–6 are general-purpose DI terminals.

  • General-purpose DO terminals: 8 in total (OUT1 to OUT8), used to send signals to external devices. After configuration, the software will send the quality judgment results of the Mech-MSR projects to the DO terminals of the laser profiler.

Output signal terminals: 21–28 are general-purpose DO terminals.

Configure I/O Terminals

Before configuring with the Mech-MSR software, ensure that the relevant I/O terminals have been correctly wired.

Go to the menu bar of Mech-MSR and select Camera  Configure Laser Profiler I/O Terminals to open the configuration window.

Configure Input

Under the Input tab, turn on the Enable digital input configuration switch and configure digital input signals to control the project with external devices.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Select a laser profiler.

The drop-down list will display the available laser profilers in the current solution.

  2. Configure digital input signals.

Select the project in the current solution on the right side of the DI terminal name.

A project is allowed to be configured with only one digital input signal and cannot be associated with multiple digital input signals simultaneously.
  3. Click the Save button to save the configuration. The signal sent from an external device to the DI terminal of the laser profiler will trigger the specified project to run.

Turn off the Enable digital input configuration switch and click the Save button to disable the configuration.

Before enabling the digital input configuration, ensure that the Mech-MSR software is not blocked by the Windows firewall; otherwise, the configuration will not take effect even if enabled.

Allow Mech-MSR to go through the Windows firewall
  1. Go to Control Panel  System and Security  Windows Defender Firewall, click Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall, and then click the Allow another app button.

  2. In the window of Add an app and under the Apps tab, double-click the Mech-MSR application. If you cannot find the Mech-MSR application under the tab, you can click Browse button to find the application file in the file system and double-click the file to add it.

Configure Output

Under the Output tab, turn on the Enable digital output configuration switch and configure digital output signals to output the quality judgment results of projects to DO terminals.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Select a laser profiler.

The drop-down list will display the available laser profilers in the current solution.

  2. Configure digital output signals.

Click the Setting button on the right side of the DO terminal name to configure an output signal:

    Parameter Description

    Select a project

Determine which project’s quality judgment result you want to output.

    Signal output condition

Specify the condition under which the Mech-MSR software outputs a HIGH-level signal based on the quality judgment result of the project. Available options are Upon judgment result of NG and Upon judgment result of OK.

    Signal duration

After the software outputs the signal to the corresponding DO terminal, the signal level at the DO terminal changes from LOW to HIGH and remains HIGH for a specified duration. This parameter is used to determine the duration of the HIGH level, with a default value of 500 ms.

  3. Click the Save button to save the configuration. When the quality judgment result of the project meets the condition, the signal sent by the software to the corresponding DO terminal will last for the specified duration.

Turn off the Enable digital output configuration switch and click the Save button to disable the configuration.
