Symptom

When using the Intrinsic Parameter Tool to check the intrinsic parameters in Mech-Eye Viewer, the message box in the lower part of the software interface displayed that the brightness in the 2D image is uneven, which does not meet the image requirements.

Possible Causes

  • The Exposure Mode parameter in the 2D Parameters category was set to Flash. Additionally, some areas of the circles on the calibration board were outside the supplemental lighting range, resulting in uneven brightness of individual calibration circles.

  • There were objects in the environment that blocked part of the light source, causing shadows to appear on the calibration board.

  • The surface of the calibration board had severe scratches or noticeable stains, affecting the recognition of the calibration circles.

Solutions

Follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. If the Exposure Mode is set to Flash, adjust the position of the calibration board to ensure that the entire board is within the supplemental lighting range of the camera.

    • After adjusting the position, check the intrinsic parameters again and confirm whether this message appears.

      • If not appear, the troubleshooting is completed.

      • If the message appears, set Exposure Mode to Timed or Auto, adjust the exposure parameters, and check the intrinsic parameter again. If the message still appears, proceed to step 2.

  2. If there are objects blocking the light source in the environment, adjust the position of the camera or calibration board to prevent the light source from being obscured.

    • After adjusting the position, check the intrinsic parameters again and confirm whether this message appears.

      • If not appear, the troubleshooting is completed.

      • If the message appears, turn off or adjust the top lighting and other light sources, then check the intrinsic parameters again. If the message still appears, proceed to step 3.

  3. Check whether the surface of the calibration board is intact. If noticeable stains exist, clean the calibration board, especially the calibration circle areas. If there are severe scratches, it is recommended to replace the calibration board.

    • After completion, check the intrinsic parameters again and confirm whether this message appears.

      • If not appear, the troubleshooting is completed.

      • If the message appears, proceed to the next section.

Alternative Solutions

If none of the above solutions resolve the issue, it is recommended to contact Technical Support. If you want to continue troubleshooting, refer to the following solutions to adjust the exposure parameters, adjust the lighting, or reposition the calibration board.

Adjust Exposure Parameters

  1. If the 2D image is overexposed or underexposed in certain areas, set Exposure Mode to HDR.

    • After adjusting the parameter, check the intrinsic parameters again and confirm whether this message appears.

      • If not appear, the troubleshooting is completed.

      • If the message still appears, proceed to step 2.

  2. Adjust the exposure time or gain to ensure the light is even on the calibration board.

    • After adjusting the parameter, check the intrinsic parameters again and confirm whether this message appears.

      • If not appear, the troubleshooting is completed.

      • If the message appears, check the camera model that you are using.

If you are using DEEP-GL, LSR S-GL, LSR L-GL, or LSR XL-GL, proceed to step 3.

If you are using another model, proceed to the next section.

  3. Set Exposure Mode to Timed or Auto, and adjust the exposure parameters to ensure the laser line projection is uniform.

    • After adjusting the parameter, check the intrinsic parameters again and confirm whether this message appears.

      • If not appear, the troubleshooting is completed.

      • If the message appears, adjust the laser power and then check the intrinsic parameters again. If the message still appears, proceed to the next section.

Adjust External Lighting

  • If you use a point light source (such as a single LED), use a diffused light source (such as a light curtain or ring light), or increase the number of light sources and adjust the layout to ensure even light coverage on the calibration board.

    • After completion, check the intrinsic parameters again and confirm whether this message appears.

      • If not appear, the troubleshooting is completed.

      • If the message appears, proceed to the next section.

Reposition Objects Around Calibration Board

  • If there are reflective objects near the calibration board, cover the object to avoid abnormal brightness in certain areas of the calibration board.

    • After completion, check the intrinsic parameters again and confirm whether this message appears.

      • If not appear, the troubleshooting is completed.

      • If the message appears, please contact Technical Support.
