Set an ID for the Feature

You need to perform the following steps to configure the ID for the feature.

  • The ID is the unique identifier of the feature. The ID is an integer between 1 and 999.

  • Each feature must be associated with a Mech-Vision project, which is used to measure the feature. The project ID is the unique identifier of the project in the Mech-Vision solution. For information about Mech-Vision project, see Terms and Concepts.

  • In Mech-Metrics, feature IDs correspond to the measurement positions on the part, while Mech-Vision project IDs represent the sequence of projects in the Mech-Vision solution. The two types of IDs are not directly related, and multiple measurement positions can be associated with the same Mech-Vision project.

  1. In the Features section of the resource tree in the Configuration interface of Mech-Metrics, select one or more features and then right-click. In the shortcut menu, select Edit ID.

  2. In the Edit IDs dialog box, set the IDs for one or more features.

    1. Set ID for one feature: Find and select the feature on the left and then input an ID for feature on the right. Duplicate IDs are not allowed. If a duplicate ID is entered, the software will prompt that the ID is already in use. You can then re-enter a new ID.

    2. (Recommended) Set IDs for multiple features: Select all the features that need to be measured on the left side of the dialog box, drag these features to reorder them (if needed), and then click Reset IDs. Then, the measurement IDs for these features will be automatically adjusted.

How to determine if you need to reorder features?

If specific features need to be highlighted, you can prioritize them at the beginning. The detailed explanation is as follows:

After you click Reset IDs, the software will assign an ID to each selected feature, based on the order of the features in the selection. For example, if you select three features (A, B, C) in sequence and clicks Reset IDs, the IDs for features A, B, and C will be 1, 2, and 3, respectively. If you want to focus on feature B, you can drag the features to reorder them, making the new order feature B, feature A, and feature C. After you click Reset IDs, the IDs for features B, A, and C will be 1, 2, and 3, respectively. In this case, Feature B will have the number 1, allowing you to focus on feature B.
