Configure the Communication Command

If you need to customize part information, you can configure the communication command before using Mech-Metrics for measurement.

What is communication?

During the communication between the robot and Mech-Metrics, the robot establishes a connection with Mech-Vision, and Mech-Vision establishes a connection with Mech-Metrics. Once these connections are established, the specific communication steps are as follows:

  1. The robot runs the measurement program, which triggers Mech-Metrics to run.

  2. Mech-Metrics triggers Mech-Vision to perform the measurement.

  3. Mech-Vision returns the measurement data to Mech-Metrics.

  4. Mech-Metrics sends the measurement result (OK or NG) back to the robot.

Configure the Communication Command

Follow these steps:

  1. In the Configuration interface, select Communication  Configure Communication Command. The Configure Communication Command dialog box will pop up.

  2. In the dialog box, select the part to be measured (e.g., the current part), and configure custom parameters for the part as follows:

    1. In the Custom parameter settings section, the Custom 1 tab will be displayed by default. On the Custom 1 tab, enter the parameter name (e.g., Station), and click the +Add button to add a parameter value 1 for custom parameter 1.

    2. In the text field next to 1, enter the meaning of parameter value 1 (e.g., Station 1).

    3. Click the + Add button again to add parameter value 2 for custom parameter 1.

    4. In the text field next to 2, enter the meaning of parameter value 2 (e.g., Station 2).

    5. On the Custom 1 tab, the Enable current parameter button is turned off by default, indicating that custom parameter 1 is not enabled. Click the Enable current parameter button, then click Apply in the lower-right corner.

  3. The above steps customize the part’s workstation information. These steps are provided as an example, and you can configure them based on your specific requirements.

This software supports the configuration of up to 8 custom parameters. Each custom parameter supports 8 custom parameter values.

Use Configured Information for Data Filtering

The customized part information can be used as options on the Historical Data page for data filtering. After obtaining the relevant measurement data, you can follow these steps to filter the data.

You can only use the custom information for data filtering after obtaining the relevant measurement data.

  1. In the Configuration interface, select Analysis and Compensation  Historical Data. The Historical Data page will pop up.

  2. On the left side of the Historical Data page, in the Custom section, you will see the custom parameter Station and parameter values Station 1;Station 2. By default, Station 1 and Station 2 are checked. The checked custom parameter values can be used for data filtering.

If, after configuring the custom parameters, you cannot see the configured custom parameters in the Custom section of the Historical Data page, please follow these steps to check:

    1. Check if the configured custom parameters are enabled in the Configure Communication Command dialog box.

    2. Troubleshoot based on any error messages.

    3. Contact technical support.

  3. You can click the drop-down list of Station 1;Station 2, select or deselect the relevant parameter values as needed, then perform data filtering.
